Denim Layering

{HM Denim Jacket I Dress I Sophia Lee Heels}

Ever since I purchased this denim jacket, I have basically been living in it. I am not ashamed. I did find myself wearing it out on a date night with a loose tee, jeans and some chucks - and I looked about 12 years old. I decided to mix my new favorite piece with something that made me look my "actual" age. Who am I kidding, I still can't get people to believe I am over 16 years old....

Fold-over Short

{Gap Top I Re:Named Shorts I Zara Heels}

I can't remember the last time I have ever worn a "Skort". Just even the idea of a skirt and shorts being the same thing when I was a teenager - probably made my nose curl in disgust. Although, this type of "Skort" idea with the structure in the front, makes it all the more wearable. The pointed ends make it have more of an adult flair to it, where you don't feel like your 13 again.

New York Dress Code.

{Zara Top I Vintage Hat I BCBG Jeans I Steve Madden Heels I Vintage Clutch}

 I have a hard time buying any type of denim, period. I am 5'4, on a good day, and seem to only have pants I need to roll up around the ankles. These cigarette leg jeans from BCBG are short enough on the inseam, that it allows me to wear a pair of heels/flats with out having to pull a 60's rolled pant leg look.

Hunter Huntley Green

{Top I Vintage Belt I Zara Leather Skirt I Forever 21 Heels}

I am almost at that point of nearly chopping my hair off or having to wear it in a ponytail until further notice. Summer is going to be oppressively hot, and I am dreading the thought of having long hair. My hair has grown tremendously to where it's almost to the mid of my back, so it gets hot... Now, I have wanted to chop my hair to my shoulders for some time now, but since I am being a chicken, I can't muster the courage to do it. I am also craving a new look for a season change as well. Who know's maybe chop it off and get bangs too?

Black Velvet

{Free people Dress I Vintage Bag I ALDO Heels}

I love a little black dress, and most importantly a little black dress that has amazing back details. This little number from Free People had everything I was looking for in a LBD. It's light velvety material makes it super soft to wear in the summer, but the back sequin detail makes the dress feel sexy.

Bare Midriff

{Vintage Hat I Top I Vintage Jeans I Booties}

The one thing I wanted to do when I created this blog was to experiment with different styles and to break down walls that I have about personal body insecurities. One of my biggest insecurities that I have is my stomach/belly button. Ever since high school were I was a cheerleader, our costume would show our stomachs, and I told myself once cheering was over - that I would not bare my stomach ever again. It's not something I have ever been comfortable with.  But as I have gotten older, I have found myself becoming more comfortable in my own skin and realizing that you should be really proud of your body.

California Dreamin'

{Mara Hoffman Jacket I Levi's Denim Shorts I Top Shop Tank I Forever 21 Jewelry}

This week has been pretty hot in LA, so I have been basically living in skirts and jean shorts. I found this super light Mara Hoffman Jacket, and couldn't resist wearing it while the mornings are still slightly cool. I feel it dresses up the jean shorts enough were I don't feel super under dressed.

The Denim Jacket

{HM Denim Jacket I Vintage Blouse I Zara Skirt I ALDO Heels}

I can't remember a time where I have ever walked into a store and bought one complete outfit. Most of the time, it leans more towards a piece to be worn with something else or a piece to be mixed there. But something that mixes all together in one place - nearly impossible. I bought this entire outfit in sitting at Crossroad's Trading Co. I love the relaxed feel of the denim jacket with the lace shirt and the flowy but dainty skirt. Couldn't have been happier walking out just spending a dollar short of 60 bucks!

{TBT last night to have seen this denim jacket}
The last time I owned a denim jacket (fur on the collar denim jacket from Abercrombie - yep went there), was in New York City years ago. It was a jacket I had begged and begged my parents to purchase for me, and was over the moon when they finally caved. Then after only having it for maybe since Christmas the jacket was actually stolen right from underneath me during a Seminar held in Manhattan. Finding out only afterwards when it was about time to leave that my jacket (in sub below cold weather) was missing. Stolen. I think I cried walking home in the freezing cold with no jacket to shield me from the crap January weather. After that I swore off denim jackets. Only now, I find it hilarious to see myself embracing them once again after a mere 15 years...
